Honeymoon Safaris

The mistake on a honeymoon safari is packing it. We build these the other way: fewer parks, longer stays, and nothing that starts at 5am two days running.

How we pace it differently

A standard ten-day Uganda itinerary moves lodge every one or two nights. On a honeymoon we cut the park count and double the stays: three nights in Bwindi rather than two, two nights on Lake Bunyonyi doing nothing at all, and one long transfer rather than three medium ones.

Gorilla trekking is the one early start we keep, because it has to be. Everything around it is built to recover from it.

Lake Bunyonyi is the reason this works

Bunyonyi has no crocodiles, no hippos and no bilharzia, which makes it one of the only lakes in the region you can simply swim in. It sits two to three hours from Bwindi at 1,962 metres among terraced hills and 29 islands.

Trekking gorillas on one day and swimming off a private jetty the next is, in our experience, the single best two-day sequence in Uganda, and it is why almost every honeymoon we build ends there rather than in a park.

What we arrange quietly

Most of our partner lodges offer honeymoon rates or a room upgrade on production of a marriage certificate, and we apply for those on your behalf rather than leaving you to ask at check-in.

Private bush breakfasts, a chartered boat on the Kazinga Channel instead of the shared launch, and a table set away from the main deck are all straightforward to arrange with notice. Tell us the date and we will handle it without making a production of it.
