Kibale Forest National Park

Known as the primate capital of East Africa, Kibale holds the highest density and diversity of primates on the continent, thirteen species including a habituated chimpanzee community.

Standard tracking departs from the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre morning and afternoon. The full-day habituation experience follows researchers as they work with a community, giving far longer contact time.

The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary community walk pairs well as a half-day add-on and channels revenue directly into local guiding cooperatives.

Best time to visit

The drier months of June–September and December–February, when the community ranges lower and is found faster. Trekking runs year-round.

Five hours by road from Kampala via Fort Portal, or an hour and a half north of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
