Lake Mburo National Park

Uganda's smallest savannah park and the closest to Kampala and Entebbe, making it ideal as a short add-on or a stopover en route to and from the western circuit.

Mburo is the reliable place to see zebra, impala and eland, and one of very few parks in East Africa where you can ride out on horseback among plains game.

A boat safari on Lake Mburo itself adds hippo, crocodile and prolific waterbirds in under two hours, perfect for travellers with a single spare day.

Best time to visit

Year-round. June–August and December–February give the driest tracks; the green season brings excellent birding and very quiet trails.
