Privacy policy

The short version

We collect what we need to quote and run your safari, and nothing else. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and this website sets no tracking or advertising cookies.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry, you give us your name, contact details, travel dates, party size and any preferences or requirements you choose to tell us. If you go on to book, we additionally need passport details for each traveller, because the Uganda Wildlife Authority issues gorilla and chimpanzee permits against passport numbers and will not issue them otherwise.

We may also hold dietary requirements, medical information relevant to trekking, and your travel insurance details, all of which you provide voluntarily and which exist to keep you safe in the field.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

To respond to your enquiry, prepare a quotation, and perform the contract if you book. Passport details are shared with the Uganda Wildlife Authority solely to obtain your permits, and with lodges and airlines where a booking requires it.

Where you are in the UK or the EU, our lawful basis is performance of a contract for booking data, and legitimate interest for responding to an enquiry you initiated. Medical and dietary information is processed with your explicit consent.

Who we share it with

The Uganda Wildlife Authority, for permits. Lodges and camps, for your reservation. Airlines and charter operators, where flights form part of your itinerary. That is the complete list.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not pass it to advertisers or data brokers under any circumstances.

WhatsApp enquiries

Our enquiry form and contact buttons open a WhatsApp conversation with our team on +256781869487. Messages you send through WhatsApp are handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy policy, which we do not control. If you would rather not use it, email info@millionmilesadventures.com, every enquiry route reaches the same consultants.

Cookies and analytics

This website sets no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of that request.

Should we add analytics in future, we will update this page and add a consent mechanism for visitors in the UK and EU before doing so.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become bookings are deleted within 24 months. Booking records are retained for seven years to meet Ugandan tax and accounting requirements. Passport details are deleted once permits are issued and your trip has been completed.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to records we are legally required to retain. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.

Visitors in the UK and EU also have the right to object to processing, to request portability, and to complain to their national data protection authority.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS. Booking and passport information is held in access-controlled systems available only to the consultants working on your trip. We ask clients never to send passport scans or payment details over unencrypted email, and we will never ask you for card details by email or WhatsApp message.
